California-inspired mixed-use building in Arlington breaks ground

With a design inspired by Big Sur, a stretch of California’s central coast, Arlington, Virginia’s multi-family residential development, known as The Sur, has officially broken ground. The design is expected to meld sustainable and rustic features with a modern twist, while offering a variety of amenities and ground-level retail.

Located at 3400 Potomac Avenue, The Sur will span 12 stories with 360 luxury apartments, ranging in size from 557-square-foot studios to 1,419-square-foot three-bedrooms. There will be more than one and a half acres of land included. The retail will total over 16,500 square feet, while the amenities will span 25,000 square feet of the building.

Some of the amenities will include a party room with a fireplace and a bar, rooftop spa with cabanas and fire pits, and a fitness center with an adjacent outdoor lawn for yoga and movie nights. Pet owners should take notice of the dog spa and wash area, while those who need a place to work might enjoy the conference room and business center.

The location is only a block away from a Harris Teeter grocery store. The delivery is slated for April 2020.
