On Sunday, 22 April 2018, detectives from the Operational Command Centre in Uitenhage launched a manhunt for armed suspects who allegedly robbed a business in Rosedale Drive, Rosedale, Uitenhage at about 13:40 yesterday, 21 April 2018.

It is alleged that two armed suspects entered the shop, threatened the employees with a firearm and demanded cash from the store.

The suspect allegedly fired a shot into the ceiling and the complainant and his two assistants took cover. The suspects went around the counter and took an undisclosed amount of money out of the cash register. They also took cigarettes and fled from the scene in a red VW Polo.

No one sustained any injuries during the shooting incident. Uitenhage Cluster Detectives are investigating a case of robbery at a business premises and they are following up on all possible leads.

The South African Police Service appeal to business owners to be vigilant of any suspicious behaviour and to increase their security measures.
