The Los Angeles Chargers are considered one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl heading into 2019, but defensive lineman Melvin Ingram thinks that they are the favorites.

“We’re definitely going to win the Super Bowl,” Ingram said earlier this week, according to Jeff Miller of The Los Angeles Times. “Still ASAP — Any Squad Any Place. That’s what we’re about.”

With the defending champion New England Patriots looking vulnerable and the Kansas City Chiefs potentially entering the 2019 campaign down a couple of key offensive pieces, the Chargers certainly seem to have a shot at making a big run.

“We’re the team to beat in the NFL, not just the AFC West, it’s the NFL,” Ingram said. “We feel like when we’re going against our offense that we need to beat them because they’re the best. They need to beat us because we’re the best. That’s how we’re going to get better.”

Ingram is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played all 16 games and registered 43 tackles, seven sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and a couple of fumble recoveries en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of South Carolina, was originally selected by the Chargers in the first round (18th pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

His breakout season came in his fourth year, when he totaled 65 tackles and 10.5 sacks.

Ingram then went on to make his first Pro Bowl in 2017 after racking up 56 tackles, 10.5 sacks, a forced fumble, a pair of fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown.
