KALAMAZOO, MI -- Police have released a sketch of a man suspected of grabbing a 13-year-old girl.

About 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, a man grabbed a 13-year-old girl while she was walking to school, near the intersection of West Maple Street and West Crosstown Parkway, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said.

The girl was uninjured. The suspect was on a bicycle when he grabbed the girl, and he continued to ride away from the scene after the incident, police said.

On Saturday, Oct. 21, KDPS officer Caleb Dumond, a trained police sketch artist, met with the victim and witness involved with the assault.

Dumond drafted a picture depicting the suspect involved after both the victim and witness provided detailed information as to certain characteristics they observed.

Police said the suspect is described as a white man, approximately 60-years-old with a white "scruffy" beard. He was wearing a red jacket, faded blue jeans, gray stocking cap and black wire-rimmed glasses.

The suspect continued riding the bicycle away from the scene, traveling south on West Crosstown Parkway, police said.

Maple Street Magnet School for the Arts sent out a notice to parents and guardians, alerting them of the incident and encouraging them to review safety precautions with their child.
