Abstract & The Figure

Artist Vian Borchert's art exhibit celebrating the 2 genres of art the figurative & abstract on view till Oct 31 at Framer's Choice Gallery.

More than meets the eye, acclaimed artist Vian Borchert’s figurative paintings not only look back at their audience but allow the viewer to draw in closer for a deeper and more intimate dialogue between artwork and onlookers. From “The Conversation” to “The Story Remains Untold” to “Mystery” and “Rain” the visitors gaze upon these expressionistic figures with intrigue and interest with remarks such as: “What happened here”, “I wonder what she is thinking” and more curious questions and observations about the state and mood of the figure. Through such inquiries, the artist knows that what she has intended to achieve has been requited. These figurative expressionistic works of art are supposed to create that cognitive and intellectual intrigue that the artist aims to do when creating the work. These figurative paintings are supposed to tell a mysterious story – a narrative of some sort where the audience fills in the blank space with suggestive interpretation to the mystery of the art. Good art you see is supposed to move you!

Good art is supposed to not only make you look once but make you look again and again and more and more that’s what good art does. Good art is not any shape, way or form dull – it is the absolute opposite of that, it is the celebration of life and creativity on canvas.
Borchert’s figurative work and her intent through these full of expression and emotions paintings is to bring one in closer to the world of art and story telling through the arts.
Moving on to the other portion of the exhibit which showcases the abstract paintings. Borchert’s abstract work move us closer to the artist’s lyrical and visual poetic world. The abstracts let in the viewer for a look at the imaginative world of colors, shapes and atmosphere that Vian creates. From her signature blues and foggy abstracted sceneries to Fall abstraction that celebrate the season and glorify nature. Vian Borchert an avid lover of nature makes this clear through her art world, art work and abstract series. Furthermore, Borchert always allows that extra room for imagination to take flight not only for her when creating the work but also for the viewers upon viewing her work.
If you are an art lover and a nature lover, then this show is a must see! If you are a modern art devotee, a minimalist and a contemporary art fan this exhibition is a must!
The exhibition consisting of a mélange between the three worlds of figurative, abstract and landscape all converging together in Borchert’s signature and one of a kind unique art style is currently on view.
