Flood Warning Issued For Parts Of Montgomery County

Forecasters say heavy rain Monday morning could cause flooding in parts of Montgomery County, DC, and Northern Virginia.

SILVER SPRING, MD — After a morning of heavy rain, the National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for parts of Montgomery County and surrounding areas. The flood warning is in effect until 3 p.m. Monday for eastern Montgomery County.

Forecasters say that more than one inch of rain has already fallen in the Washington, D.C., metro area. Runoff from heavy rainfall will result in flooding in creeks, streams, roads, urban areas, poor drainage areas, and other low-lying spots.

Because of flooding, Maryland Parks has closed the bike pump track at South Germantown Recreational Park and all natural-surface trails. The trails will be closed until Wednesday, Nov. 7 at noon, according to a press release.
