Gladys MacQueen Meade

Gladys Lillian MacQueen Meade passed away July 3, 2018 in Baudette after the last of many battles with cancer. She was 91. Gladys was born January 23, 1927 in Amery, WI. to John A. MacQueen and Lucy Legg MacQueen. She graduated from Bismarck High and attended Macalester College, where she met David Meade of Roseau. They were married in August, 1949, and subsequently resided in Willow River, Middle River, Canby, Red Wing, Elk River, Bismarck and Williams. After David died in 1987, Gladys lived at their lake home north of Williams. She spent the last few winters in Blackduck.

Gladys was known for giving. She was a charter member of the hospital auxiliaries in Red Wing and Baudette. She was involved in the General Federation of Women's Clubs, as well as many other volunteer activities. She was for a time the Baudette representative to the Arrowhead Region Library Board. For years she provided a school class in Indianola, MS with books, supplies, and software. She would remind us all to be helpful to and considerate of all people.
