”Survivor”s Rodger is ousted from the Outback

Say it ain’t so, Kentucky Joe! The deeply endearing Rodger became the latest contestant ejected from CBS’ ”Survivor: The Australian Outback” as the ex- Ogakor alliance of Keith, Tina, and Colby regrouped to take down another former Kucha. It was the season’s most emotional episode — and not just because one of the most beloved competitors was shown the door.

With only five tribe members remaining, there was more time to get to know each better, especially when they were allowed to chat with loved ones online during the reward challenge. (The families were given a survival trivia quiz, which Tina’s husband and kids won.) Here’s some of the enlightening personal info we gleaned:

RODGER Who knew the ”teacher / farmer” had been the CEO of a bank for 12 years? That’s what he told Tina when he selflessly urged her to vote him off before Elisabeth, whom he said needed the money more. We still don’t know what subject he teaches, but chances are it’s not English, based on the grammar he used when chatting with wife Pat, daughter Angela, and son in law Kevin: ”You will not believe the things I have saw [sic] and done.”

ELISABETH ”Bessy” (as she signed her online message) revealed that her mother is a breast cancer survivor (”She’s the most amazing, strong woman … She’s my hero”). Footage of her mom, Elisabeth, with husband Kenneth and son Ken showed that the family shares Bessy’s taste in funky eyewear, if not headdresses. Other fun facts: She calls Rodger her ”Outback Daddy”; she’s never wet her bed (but sleeping in a Down Under downpour made her feel like she had); and she’s prone to sudden hair loss (according to the teaser for next week’s episode).

TINA The nurse referred to herself as a ”newlywed,” having been married for only 18 months to the slow typing (and younger looking) husband Dale. She’s got two kids — a son, Taylor, and a daughter, Katie — and she shares Rodger’s familial feelings for Elisabeth. When bored in the Outback, she kills time by playing backgammon with Colby.

COLBY ”The Colbster,” as he dubbed himself online, is a mama’s boy at heart. His mom, Gay, who was filmed with a Lone Star State flag in the background (Okay, you’re from Texas — we get it. WE GET IT.), calls him ”Baby” because he’s younger than his brother. We also learned that yes, cowboys do cry, as Colby sobbed like a wee baby Colbster upon reading his mom’s electronic missive.

KEITH Here’s the shocker: The chef has a heart. He proposed via the Net to his much younger looking girlfriend, Katrin, whom he calls ”Peas” (she calls him ”Carrots”), and she said … yes! (Colby later accused Keith of using the proposal to curry favor with the other players). Keith’s cuisine related metaphors continued after he lost the immunity challenge — a prison themed race — to threepeat champ Colby: ”That’s the way the cookie crumbles … You can’t cry over spilled milk.” But if Keith thinks bringing home the bacon is going to be a piece of cake, here’s some food for thought: One bad apple spoils the bunch.
