The U.S. Small Business Administration on Friday approved Wisconsin's request to provide federal low-interest disaster loans for individuals and businesses affected by flooding in southeastern Wisconsin last month, the governor's office said.

The SBA will provide loans for up to $200,000 for damaged homes, $40,000 for damaged property, and $2 million to businesses for physical damage and economic loss because of flooding.

Kenosha, Racine and Walworth counties, along with the contiguous counties of Jefferson, Milwaukee, Rock and Waukesha, are eligible.

More than 8 inches of rain fell overnight July 11 in southeastern Wisconsin, causing widespread flooding and setting flood records along the Fox River.

No one was killed or seriously injured, but thousands of homes and businesses were impacted, the governor said in a news release.

The SBA will be opening disaster loan outreach centers at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the following locations:

  • The Kenosha County Center, 19600 75th St., Bristol
  • Western Racine County Service Center Eppers Room, 209 N Main St., Burlington
  • Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, 1770 County Rd. NN, Elkhorn
