Female middle school teacher, 32, is arrested and fired for having an improper relationship with a student after police received a tip-off

A Texas middle school educator has been detained for allegedly having an improper relationship with a student. 

Mercedes Genevieve Coloso, 32, was detained Monday on arrest warrants for indecency with a child, sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between educator and student. 

The arrest came after the Coppell Police Department was tipped off on March 27 about the relationship between a teacher and a juvenile student, police shared in a statement.

The investigation is ongoing. 

State records show that Coloso is certified as an educational aide, the Dallas Morning News reports. 

Coppell ISD said that Coloso was fired and no longer allowed at any facility in the school district.   

'Coppell ISD holds its employees to the highest standards and is deeply saddened and outraged about this situation,' the district added in a statement.
