ATL Jewish Fest Pioneers With New Music

Acts Include Yemenite Blues, Grammy Winner and a Musical Robot

(Atlanta, GA) January 30, 2018 One of Atlanta’s premier international musical events, The Atlanta Jewish Music Festival (AJMF), returns for its ninth year with a diverse musical lineup curated to please audiences of all ages, backgrounds and affiliations, including Jews and non-Jews. The three weekend festival will run March 8-25 in various locations throughout metro Atlanta.

AJMF is the largest Jewish music festival in the South and is known for introducing the community to unique musical acts featuring world music, rock, hip hop, jazz and more. This year’s festival includes fresh musical talent, returning favorites and a bevy of international artists sure to penetrate the soul of music listeners.

“I can’t think of a more interesting 100 hours in AJMF history than this Spring Festival’s Opening Weekend,” said AJMF Executive Director Russell Gottschalk. “We have multiple artists performing Yiddish classics, a new-school Yemenite funk band, Grammy-award winning folk singer/songwriter, two Shabbat Services, and one awesome new collaboration with the Atlanta Science Festival (ASF) to debut Gil Weinberg’s music playing robot, Shimon.”

AJMF is excited to continue its collaboration with ATL Collective (two shows of Billy Joel’s “The Stranger” at City Winery), the annual Teen Battle of the Bands (at Smith’s Olde Bar) and numerous Jewish Atlanta program partners including, but not limited to, Ahavath Achim Synagogue, Congregation Bet Haverim, Davis Academy, The Epstein School, Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, Temple Sinai, The Temple, and The Weber School.
