Full military honors for William O’Brien Landwier of Eolia, Mo., will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, Mo. William will be cremated and buried in the Sacred Heart cemetery on the family plot at a later date.

Mr. Landwier, 73, passed away Wednesday morning, Sept. 21, 2016, at SSM DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, Mo. Born March 15, 1943, in New York, he was the son of William Landwier and Betty William. Bill graduated high school in Newton. He served his country in the United States Army for 28 years. Bill was in the 82nd Airborne and the 101st Special Services. He retired from the Army as a Sergeant First Class, receiving the Purple Heart for his two deployments in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW Post #4610 in Clarksville, Mo. Bill was united in marriage June 8, 1996, in the New Hope Community near Elsberry, Mo., to Dora Mae Wallace. Bill was a horse fanatic and loved dirt track racing and hunting.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Landwier and Betty William; his first wife, Kathy Mickle Landwier (the mother of William Scott, Corey and Jeffery); and one son, Jeffery O’Brien Landwier.

Survivors include beloved wife of 20 years, Dora Mae Landwier of Eolia; his children, William Scott Landwier of St. Charles, Mo., Michael Landwier and his wife, Meredith, also of St. Charles, and Corey Ann Kunkel and her husband Joseph of Des Moines; his stepchildren, Paul David Wright and his wife Randie of Eolia, Victor Louis Wright and his wife Teresa also of Eolia, Chauncie William Wright and his wife Glenda of Clarksville, and Carrie Palmer of Briscoe, Mo.; many grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Bill also leaves two sisters, Marilyn Thielman and her husband Don of Oregon, Wis,. and Janet Ward of Annapolis, Md.; his second wife, Suzanne Drew (the mother of Michael); nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
