Windows 8.1 will come preloaded with Internet Explorer 11 but Microsoft hasn’t forgotten about Windows 7 users. The company has announced that Internet Explorer 11 will be coming to Windows 7, some time this fall, though they wouldn’t commit to a specific date.

This will be the second major update for Internet Explorer for Windows 7 in the last year. Internet Explorer 10 debuted in February of this year and IE 11 will be released this fall, which shows Microsoft is committed to supporting its legacy operating system as well as supporting IE.

Internet Explorer 11 Release Preview focuses on speed, coming to Windows 7 this fall

Updates in the Internet Explorer 11 Release Preview focus on making IE faster. Microsoft claims that the Release Preview will be 5% faster than its previous Developer Preview. IE 11 is also building in support for touch-devices, which have been more popular for Windows 8 but it’s nice to see that feature come to Windows 7.

Do Not Track is still integrated and enabled by default in IE 11. Microsoft enabled Do Not Track by default with the release of IE 10.
