Dear Bonnie: I was about to meditate, and I asked my mom, who is in heaven, to come to me while I was meditating. While in meditation, my mom did come into my vision, and it felt as if I were dreaming. She showed me she lived near the ocean in a brand-new condominium, and I could see her home in detail. Her living-room walls were painted a vibrant teal/seafoam green, and she had pictures hanging over the fireplace. She seemed to live remarkably high up in this condo, and she wanted to live near the ocean instead of her small apartment where she lived before her passing. As I looked out one of the new condo windows, the ocean was in full view, and as she opened the sliding glass doors to her balcony, I could see the vibrant blue and green of the ocean waters. It was as if she was in a cove all her own with trees and sand. I soon felt calmness and peace.

Could this truly be how my mom lives in heaven? And was it really her showing me what her life is like now? — Kimmy

Dear Kimmy: Let me just say that is an amazing story. You started your meditation with an invitation for your mom to join you, and she was able to show you a little bit of her life as it is today.

Meditation is the number-one way of raising your vibration and communicating with those on the higher side of life.

As a full-time medium for the last 10 years, I have noticed that more and more of those loved ones in the spirit world want their loved ones here to know what their version of heaven is like for them. I now make it a part of my sessions to ask the person whom I am communicating with what they are doing in heaven. Some people show me what they did here for pleasure, like their hobbies and what brought joy to them, like spending time with family, outings, hobbies, etc.

I have caught on after all these sessions that whatever we loved while on Earth we still very much can do in heaven.

Last week, I was in a session, and I could see the woman’s son skiing in the mountains. As a trained medium, I was taught to give what I am getting, so as I mentioned what I was seeing, the mom said, “Oh, yes, that is what he loved to do on vacations.”

Sometimes I have realized the small things that our loved ones hold in their hearts, like camping and going fishing with the family. If you liked music, you are enjoying the bands and concerts (that are all free) now in heaven.

My advice would be to create your version of heaven while you are on this Earth’s journey, as those memories you are making are what your mind and heart hold on to. If you always wanted to live by the ocean and did not get a chance to make that happen, you can still create what you love when you go to the higher side of life.

You know that old saying, “You can’t bring it with you”? Well, you sure can create the life you want when you leave this one. The only difference is that it does not seem to be about the money that people reminisce, but what they loved doing if they had followed their soul’s desires and did a job they loved.

Create the life your soul asks you to follow. Love, enjoyment, memories and surrounding those you love with the unconditional love that comes from your heart are the things you bring with you.
When my mom shows me what she is doing in heaven, she always comes through showing me she is with family in the log cabin that my dad and brother built, where we spent many summers enjoying the water and the campfires. On the other hand, my dad is always with my mom (his favorite place to be), and when he is not, he shows up riding one of his horses he was fond of.

Heaven is not so far away, so keep meditating. Or before you close your eyes to sleep, ask your loved ones to join you in your sleep time. Ask that you remember your heavenly visits when you awake. Send out the thought: “Show me what you are enjoying in heaven,” and see what they bring to you. (It’s probably not working but more about being of service to others.)
