Musical and mystery open this weekend

 The musical “Cabaret” and mystery “The Mousetrap” both open this weekend.

“Cabaret” is produced by the Bay Street Players in Eustis and runs until May 14.

Agatha Christie's “The Mousetrap” by the Moonlight Players in Clermont also runs through May 14.

In the mood for a little classic rock? Check out Gary Puckett and The Union Gap at Orange Blossom Opry in Weirsdale.

Also, two productions will be casting at the end of April. The Tavares Community Theater's production “The Game's Afoot” and the Moonlight Players' “Race” will audition April 30 and May 1.

'Cabaret'

“Cabaret” by the The Bay Street Players in Eustis opens Friday and runs to May 14.

The award-winning Broadway play is based on the night life at Kit Kat Klub in Berlin, Germany, as the Nazi party is growing stronger. The plot revolves around American writer Cliff Bradshaw and his relationship with English cabaret performer Sally Bowles. There is a parental advisory for the show.

Agatha Christie's 'The Mousetrap'

The Moonlight Players open Agatha Christie's “The Mousetrap” this weekend and runs through May 14.

The play centers on a group of strangers is stranded in a boarding house during a snow storm, one of whom is a murderer. The suspects include the newly married couple who run the house, a spinster with a curious background, an architect who seems better equipped to be a chef, a retired Army major, a strange little man who claims his car has overturned in a drift, and a jurist who makes life miserable for everyone. Into their midst comes a policeman, traveling on skis. During the policeman’s probing of the background of everyone present, he rattles a lot of skeletons.

Orange Blossom Opry

Classic Rock with Gold-record winning Gary Puckett and The Union Gapon stage this weekend at Orange Blossom Opry, 16439 S.E. Terrace, Weirsdale. The band performs shows at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, including songs “Wonder Woman,” “ Young Girl,” “Over You” and 'Lady Willpower.” Details: www.obopry.
