FERN E. HORTON

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Len Halvorson, St. Olaf Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Fern is survived by her grandchildren, Allan (Molly) Pickett of Webster City; Bonnie Myer of Fort Dodge; Troy (Stacey) Horton of Garden City, KS and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy Horton Sr.; son, Leroy Horton Jr.; daughter, Sharon Kay Steburg; brother, Eldon Johnson and sister, Violet Rykhus.

Fern was born June 12, 1923 to Ernest and Clara “Harriet” (Hill) Johnson in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was united in marriage Leroy Horton and they lived on a family farm in Coalville where they raised their two children. Fern enjoyed her time on the farm. She loved bowling, shopping and baking, especially her apple pie.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
