MEMPHIS – Domino’s is donating $100 million to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital over the next 10 years which will help fund a new housing facility for patients and their families.

The $100 million commitment is the largest in St. Jude’s history.

Construction on The Domino’s Village, located in Memphis, will begin this fall, according to a St. Jude news release. The facility will open in the spring of 2023, the release said, costing $110 million total.

“A diagnosis of pediatric cancer or other life-threatening diseases affects the entire family, and treatments can take months or even years,” said St. Jude President and CEO James R. Downing in a statement. “We asked patients and their families to tell us what would make their experience the best possible while staying at St. Jude. Their thoughts and ideas are reflected in the planning and design of this new residence.”

The six-story facility will have 140 units for short- and long-term stays. It will also include a planned pedestrian bridge to St. Jude’s campus, the release said, plus an underground parking garage and an outdoor play area.

The apartments will accommodate different lengths of stay and family sizes, per the Domino’s release. St. Jude has been the national charity partner of Domino’s since 2004. Domino’s and its franchisees have raised more than $68 million for St. Jude, according to Domino’s.

Richard Shadyac Jr., president and CEO of St. Jude’s fundraising and awareness organization ALSAC, said Domino’s is “the model of the power of corporate purpose to change the world” in a statement.

"This new, generous gift is the largest commitment in the history of our organization, and every Domino's employee, franchisee and customer should be proud to be part of this selfless act of making the world a better, more compassionate place,” he said. “The Domino's Village will provide a home-away-from-home for the thousands of kids and families who come to St. Jude from around the world. They will forever be transformed by the generosity of Domino's in their greatest time of need."
