Bernice "Be" Helen Seehus

Bernice "Be" Helen Seehus, 89, of Duluth went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, August 11, 2018, with family by her side in her home.

She was born on May 27, 1929 to Oge and Hedvig Nelson in Duluth. She grew up on the Nelson family farm in Randall, MN and during the Depression years she and her family moved many times around the country as her dad got work. Consequently, she always wanted a permanent home and didn't want to move.

Bernice married the love of her Life, Kenneth Carl Seehus, on July 29, 1950 and together they raised a family in their West Duluth home, where Kenneth still lives. She was a Christian and she loved the Lord, her family, her home and her church. She also loved it that every member of her family, from kids to great grandkids, lived within a 5-mile radius.

Bernice was a home maker and also worked part time for many years as a secretary for various Duluth business and churches, but she was always home when the kids came home from school. All her life she was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, formerly Bethany Methodist Church. She loved singing in the choir and was a tireless helper with any church function. She was also the inspiration behind starting the pastie fundraiser work that began over twenty years ago.

She was a devoted mother to her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, also extending herself to their friends and other neighborhood children that she felt needed extra love, and she unfailingly remembered them all with birthday cards. Bernice was kind, gracious and selfless and the words you could hear her say most often were, "What can I do for you?" She believed that if she couldn't say anything nice, she wouldn't say anything at all. If you told her a secret, she's kept it still.

Bernice was preceded in death by her great-grandsons, Tristan and Brenden; and brother, Bob Nelson.

Bernice will be dearly missed by her husband of 68 years, Kenneth Seehus; sons, Keith (Carolyn), Don (Carol Blanton), David (Penny), and Andy (Jane); daughter, Leanne Stauduhar; ten grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 1:00 until the 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 6822 Grand Ave., Duluth. Interment will be in Oneota Cemetery. Please leave a memory of Bernice or words of support for the family at www.bellbrothersfuneralhome.com
