Former Strictly contestant and model Kelly Brook has given her take on this season’s show, as well as reflecting on her own time on the show.

Brook, who is standing in for Heart radio presenter Lucy Horobin on the Drivetime show this week, said she didn’t approve of Katya Jones’ now widely slated tweet.

“She can’t make fun of it. But we can make fun it. But she can’t really make fun of it.

“Someone was really hurt during that whole – well two people were really hurt by it – their partners. So I dunno, I found it really awkward watching them,” Brook said.

Jones had tweeted that Walsh now had ‘soooo much material’ for his upcoming comedy tour as a result of their Strictly kissing scandal.

Brook competed in Strictly Come Dancing in 2007 and was partnered with Brendan Cole. While her dances were generally well received by the judges and viewers alike, her father Kenneth Parsons, tragically passed away from cancer during the series, leading her to drop out of the series during week nine.

She revealed that she was aware that Strictly participants were ‘hooking up’ during her stint, but that it simply didn’t reach the headlines that time around.

“I know people were hooking up behind the scenes but I didn’t really see it and it wasn’t really in the press that much,” she said.

She also said that she could see how the Strictly curse’ relationships develop but rarely last long-term.

“You want to give it your all and you just end up living with this person pretty much, all the time. So I can see how relationships develop. But it’s like hooking up with actors on a movie set. It’s like a location-ship – it only happens during that period,” she said.

Did she have a ‘locationship’ with ‘lothario’ dance partner Brendan Cole? Not the case says Brook, as he met his wife during that series.

“Brendan. Brendan Cole. The lothario. Well actually we met his wife during my series so I met Zoe and – he was fine. Once he met her he calmed down. He was quite energised in the beginning,” she said.
