Flames lit up the Sunday evening sky in Everson Borough in Fayette County after several houses caught fire.Firefighters battled brutal temperatures to put the flames out at the buildings along Brown Street. According to fire officials, the fire started from a space heater in a bedroom. The occupants of that house were not home at the time, but their two dogs and cats were. Firefighters rescued the two dogs, but the cats remain missing.The flames spread to a house that was only a few feet away, but that house was unoccupied and sustained only minor damage.Nearly 50 firefighters were on scene, and rotated out due to the cold temperatures. A warming shelter and hot beverages were provided by a Murrysville EMS unit.
