A head-on collision killed one woman on Route 985 near Acosta Road in Jenner Township at 11:29 a.m. Sunday, according to state police.

Eva Kline, 70, Sipesville, was transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 1:12 p.m. in the emergency department, according to Cambria County first Deputy Coroner Pete Long.

He said the cause of death has not yet been determined. He said an autopsy is planned for Monday morning.

Kline was the Somerset County Library director.

A second driver, Kyle Updyke, 19, Boswell, was treated and released at Conemaugh Memorial hospital, according to police.

Police said the roads were wet at the time of the crash. State police crash restructionists recreated the scene as a part of the investigation.

They said Kline was wearing a seatbelt, but Updyke was not. Updyke was driving an SUV and Kline was driving a sedan.

Both vehicles were severly damaged, they said.

Acosta, Jennerstown and Sipesville fire departments and Somerset and Jennerstown ambulances responded to the scene, according to county control.

This was the fifth fatal car accident in the area in 10 days. Four Somerset County residents were killed in car crashes and a Ligonier man was killed in an accident along Route 30 Somerset County.
