ABOUT THE LADY RAIDERS
The Lady Raiders are set to tip off the Krista Gerlich era this Wednesday when they face off with the UTRGV Vaqueros. Gerlich enters her first season at Texas Tech armed with an arsenal of weapons, led by two-time All-American Vivian Gray and All-Big 12 candidates Lexi Gordon and Chrislyn Carr.

Gray highlights a host of Texas Tech newcomers, which also includes the sharpshooting transfer from San Diego State Najé Murray, Oklahoma State transfer Bryn Gerlich and a trio of promising freshmen in Daija Powell, Khyla Wade-Warren and Khadija Faye.

The Lady Raiders will look to replace the production of All-American Brittany Brewer, who led the team to an 18-11 record a season ago while leading the team in points (16.6), rebounds (10.3) and blocks (4.4).

ABOUT UTRGV
The UTRGV Vaqueros are coming off a 13-17 campaign a season ago in which they went 8-8 in WAC play on their way to a fifth place finish. Among the top returners for the Vaqueros is senior guard Amara Graham, who was recently seleted to the Preseason All-WAC team after averaging 10.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists a season ago. The Vaqueros were picked to finish third in the WAC preseason poll. The Vaqueros went 0-2 against Big 12 teams last year, falling at Kansas State (79-66) and Texas (85-69).

Head coach Lane Lord is in his third season as the head coach at UTRGV.

THE SERIES
- The Lady Raiders and Vaqueros are set to meet for just the second time ever this Wednesday and the first time since 2017.
- In the previous matchup, Texas Tech trounced UTRGV, 80-64, in Lubbock. Wednesday's game will be the first contest in the series to be played in the USA, as the only previous game was played inside Lubbock Municipal Coliseum.
- Lady Raider coach Krista Gerlich has faced the Vaqueros just once in her head coaching career, a 75-63 loss on the road in her first season at UTA (2013-14).
- No current members of the Lady Raider roster have played UTRGV in their careers.

LAST TIME VS UTRGV
Lady Raider Basketball continued its winning tradition inside the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum with an 80-64 victory over UT-Rio Grande Valley.

Four Lady Raiders scored in double figures for the fifth time this season. Senior Jada Terry led the team with 21 points, her second 20-point game of the season. Sophomore Erin DeGrate followed with 14 of her own and tallied eight rebounds. Junior Recee' Caldwell scored 11 for the Lady Raiders, her fourth double-digit point game of the season, while Freshman Lyndsey Whilby scored 10, marking her second straight 10+ point game.

After entering the second half tied at 36, the Lady Raiders outscored 44-28 on the way to an 80-64 win. Tech shot 58 percent in the final quarter while holding UTRGV to just 31 percent, racking up 26 points compared to UTRGV's 18.

TRIPLE THREAT
The Lady Raiders come into the 2020-21 season with an arsenal of offensive talent--but perhaps none more potent than the three-headed monster of Vivian Gray, Chrislyn Carr and Lexi Gordon.

Truly a #TripleThreat, Gordon, Carr and Gray make up one of only two Big 12 trios who each finished in the top 20 of the conference in scoring a year ago. Oklahoma's Ana Llanusa, Taylor Robertson and Madi Williams make up the other trio.

Scoring isn't the only thing these three Lady Raiders specialize in, however. Gray, a two-time All-American, is one of the top two-way players in the country and is the nation's active leader in career points per game, while Carr is an elite distributor that finished her sophomore season ranking second in the Big 12 in assists per game (5.0). Gordon is one of the top rebounding guards in the Big 12 as well, finishing 18th among all players in the conference with 4.8 boards per game and a pair of double-doubles.
