Scare up a good time in Boca Raton and Delray Beach this Halloween

According to the Florida Retail Federation, the average person is expected to spend more than $86 this Halloween. So once you have emptied your wallet on candy and costumes, check out these events in Delray Beach and Boca Raton that offer something spooky for all ages.

BOCA RATON

The First United Methodist Church of Boca Raton’s Pumpkin Patch will be up through Oct. 31. Each year over the last five years, around 800 to 1,000 preschool children have come to the pumpkin patch, according to the church, which is at 9087 Glades Road. The pumpkin patch is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and proceeds from pumpkin sales go to the church’s ministries, which have raised funds for missions in Haiti; Family Promise, which helps the homeless; The Homeless Shower Ministry; Boca Helping Hands Backpack Program, which packs foods for children and families in need; and The Methodist Children’s Home, among others. Sugar Sand Park, 300 S. Military Trail, will have its second week of Shriek Week, which is themed Dreamy-Land Traveling Carnival this year. Activities include a haunted house and walkthrough, shows, trick-or-treating, carnival games and a children’s scary film festival.

The event is from 6 to 11 p.m. Oct. 25, 26 and 27. Lite Nite from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 25 offers a less intense experience.

Admission to the haunted house is based on reservations for $9, so check before you go to see if it is sold out. The rest of the activities are tickets that can only be purchased that night. Food trucks and vendors will have food and beverages to purchase.

Award-winning event venue and historical landmark The Addison at 2 E Camino Real will open its doors to the public on Halloween night from 7:30 p.m. to midnight for a unique event experience, benefiting Slow Burn Theatre Company at the Broward Center. Halloween at the Addison presents “The Silver Scream” will pay homage to the 1930s classic horror icons including Dracula, Frankenstein, the Werewolf of London and the Mummy. The event will feature a haunted walk-through, live music and entertainment, food, an open bar and specialty craft cocktails. General admission is $125 per person, which includes entry, food, open bar and entertainment. VIP Tables (for up to 10 guests) are $2,500, which includes complimentary valet parking, access to indoor VIP area with private table, table-side food and beverage service and champagne bottle service. A romp through the Louisiana backwoods to encounter a voodoo priestess who curses you. A haunted maze populated by medical oddities and marauding, ax-wielding clowns. Sinister twists on “Alice in Wonderland.” These are the scenarios unfolding across 20,000 square feet and two floors of themed haunted houses, where some 80 actors are lying in wait to scare you in the darkness at Enigma Haunt. This year’s attractions are “Cursed,” “Twisted Mayhem” and “Realms of Terror.”

If you want to drop your children off while you enjoy a parents’ night out, You Create Academy at 500 NE Spanish River Blvd., Suite 21 will offer plenty of fun for the night of Saturday, Oct. 24. Kids will enjoy karaoke, pizza, games, candy, a costume contest and a movie. Advance tickets are $35 before Oct. 24 and $40 after. Costumes are optional and tickets include pizza and water. DELRAY BEACH

On the weekend before Halloween, restaurant, bar and live music venue Avant, 25 NE Second Ave., will turn into a haunted house with live music on Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27. The city of Delray Beach is hosting a full day of activities on Saturday, Oct. 27 including trick-or-treating, a parade and children’s activities. Start by trick-or-treating along Atlantic Avenue from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Make your way to the fountain at Veterans’ Park at 802 NE First St. for the 56th annual Halloween Parade. The parade will walk along the avenue and end at the Tennis Center, 201 W. They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky. The Addams Family is coming to Delray Beach’s Crest Theatre@Old School Square, 51 N. Swinton Ave., from Thursday, Oct. 25 to Sunday, Nov. 4. Entr’Acte Theatrix will present the award-winning musical comedy inspired by Charles Addams’ cartoons. Tickets are $45 (premium seating) or $35 (regular seating). The seventh annual Witches of Delray Bike Ride will work its magic to raise money for the Achievement Centers for Children and Families in Delray Beach from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. The 4.5-mile bike ride through downtown Delray Beach is guided by the Delray Beach Police Department. Riders will end at the Delray Green Market at Old School Square, where “Best Costume” “Best Witch Cackle,” “Best Decorated Bike” and “Best Group Theme” will be awarded.
