You might know Lindsey Mills for her role as the bassist for the seminal Florida band, Surfer Blood, but I have to say, her solo work is much better. The song, “No Mud,” off her latest album released earlier this year, is weird and catchy in all the right ways. Her music isn’t punk, but it isn’t not punk either, if that makes any sense. It has an eerie edge that is just fantastic and immediately draws the listener in. Ms. Mills’ voice is dreamy but intelligible, and has a dry wit to it that gives the impression that she’s smiling through every line, almost as if she knows a secret that she’s dying to tell you. If you’re a fan of good, catchy, poppy, weird music, you’ll love Lindsey Mills.

Check her out Friday, when she performs along with new local rappers and '80s TV show enthusiasts Perfect Strangers, Heat Rash and Holographic Teeth at The Atlantic, starting at 9 p.m.
