HAYWARD — A one-car crash on Interstate 880 early Thursday brought a brief Sig Alert for severe traffic, the California Highway Patrol said.

The wreck happened in the southbound direction just south of the Tennyson Road exit around 5:20 a.m. and wound up with a four-door vehicle on its side, the CHP said. The vehicle also leaked oil onto the freeway, requiring a clean-up.

Initial reports confirmed by the CHP indicated there were no major injuries.

The alert came at 5:37 a.m., but was lifted around 15 minutes later, according to the CHP. The crash blocked the two far left lanes, and traffic the morning commute was expected to remain slow through the area.
