Around the world in 30 marriages: Couple plan ceremony in every country they'll visit on two-year trip
Most couples prepare for their wedding on the assumption that it will be a once in a lifetime day.
But for Alex Pelling and Lisa Gant, their wedding in Manchester was just the first of many.
The couple are planning to have ceremonies in 30 different countries on an epic two-year £50,000 round-the-world trip.
Surprise: Alex Pelling and Lisa Gant at their first wedding in Manchester which Alex planned all by himself
At the end of their journey, the couple will decide what their favourite destination was and return there for an official wedding.
Alex, 31, from Hull, East Yorkshire said: 'I have sold the car body repair shop I own and our home so we can go on this trip.
'We are leaving for Toronto today and we will have three months to set up a traditional Canadian wedding.
'We are then planning to carry out wedding ceremonies in every country we visit, whether large or small.'
A key element of the trip for Alex and Lisa is to immerse themselves in the cultures of the countries they visit.
Alex said: 'We want to embrace the traditions and cultures of all these countries.
'We are particularly looking forward to the wedding in India.
'We are also planning to visit China, which should be interesting, and South Africa could prove rather wild.
First of many: Alex and Lisa hope to get married 30 times on their two-year round-the-world trip
'Whether we cut the cake under the canvas of a Berber tent in Morocco, or share our first dance under a remote waterfall in Tahiti, we're going to blog and share our experience with the world.
'We're even planning to have a wedding onboard one of our flights, creating our very own romantic version of the Mile High Club.
'What we are doing is rather ad hoc and we are just playing it by ear.
'It is like "try before you buy".
'Once we have been everywhere we will choose our favourite location and return there to get marred properly.'
The couple have already sampled their first ceremony after Alex organised a surprise do for Lisa in Manchester the day before they set off on their trip.
He received help from 25 companies to secure the venue, reception, entertainment and food.

Lisa, 29, from Patrington, East Yorks, said: 'I still cannot believe Alex managed to organise it all without me finding out.
'It has been fabulous. He picked everything I would have picked.
'I am very excited by the trip. I am really looking forward to Hawaii.
'There will be a real sense of freedom on this trip and we'll have free rein to do what we wish.
'I haven't really thought about the dresses, but we want them to be traditional to the area.' Alex admits he has a penchant for affectionate gestures.
He said: 'I don't want to sound arrogant, but I am quite a romantic person. I enjoy romance and I just want to make this whole trip special for Lisa.
'We met ten years ago, but we were both in other relationships and I moved away to Manchester.
'But we got back in contact about three years ago and we haven't looked back.
'I knew the moment I saw her, she was the one for me.' The couple have all their visas in place and have had £1,500 worth of vaccines.
They plan to spend about an average of three months in every continent.
