In just one week, Thanksgiving Day will be here, and before you know it, Christmas. (Did you notice how fast the year went by?)
Sadly, I will be without my family this year, but no worries! Not only have mastered my aunt’s Turkey Day recipes, I get to also take the time to do things I’ve never done.
So, put the pity party favors away and check out some things you can do alone for the holidays.–Desire Thompson

If you don’t want to soak in your own sadness, visit a local shelter to give your time to those less fortunate.
Since it doesn’t work the way it does on TV where you just immediately serve food, look up some places now, so you can register in advance. Your spot will be guaranteed and you can also prep for any other plans you may have during the day.
This is the perfect time to turn your holiday playlist and open a cookbook (or Google recipes).
You can try out your cooking chops with new, family, or popular holiday dishes. This way if you burn anything, no one has to know!
Customize Your Holiday and Create New Traditions
Creating new traditions can be fun and creative. Create new family game, new decorations for the house or new ornaments for the tree.
Whatever you decide to do, it will keep you busy and get your creative juices flowing.
Meeting new people around the holidays is always interesting. People tend to be more open to talking to others.
Try heading out to your favorite restaurants or be a little more open with people at work. You can have a lot in common with people, but you won’t know until you talk to them!
Why not take the opportunity to have a little “me time”? Make a playlist with your favorite jams, make a meal or grab take out and just enjoy being alone.
It’s not the worst thing in the world. Call a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while or find a new TV show to watch.
Holidays are meant for you to enjoy. Wherever you are, or whatever you’re doing, just do something that makes you happy.
