Salem Audubon Society Workshop

The Salem Audubon Society will host a workshop titled “Exploring Raptors: Birds of Prey” from 10 a.m.-Noon on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW), 4034 Fairview Industrial Drive SE, Salem.

Mike Unger will be the presenter and will help participants learn about raptors that call Oregon and the Willamette Valley home. The talk will focus on hawks, eagles, falcons, vultures, kites and other raptors. There will be tips on how to identify the birds using slides, audio recordings and handouts.

Unger will help show guests where the best places to see the raptors are in the area. The classroom can hold up to 50 people so reserving a spot is recommended. The cost to attend the workshop is $10 per person and includes (weather permitting) a hike in the Fairview Wetlands across the street from the ODFW.

To reserve a spot, contact Salem Audubon at 503-588-7340. Leave a name and telephone number as well as interest in wanting to attend the raptor workshop. Guests can also register by emailing laurie@salemaudubon.org. For more information about the event, contact Mike Unger at 503-930-8998.

Salem Audubon will also be offering three Songbirds workshops on March 2, 16 and 30. For more information about these classes, visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SalemAudubonSociety and click on the events tab.
