DUI Driver Vague On Details Of Single-Car Route 41 Crash: Blotter

Incidents and arrests from the Lake Forest police blotter from Sept. 22 to Oct. 4.

LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from the Lake Forest Police Department and court records as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

ARRESTS

Karmet D. Cox, 42, of the 2200 block of Edina Boulevard in Zion was arrested at 12:05 a.m. on Sept. 22 following a traffic stop near the intersection of Route 41 and Route 176 and charged with aggravated driving with a revoked license. Police pulled over a maroon Dodge and learned its driver had a revoked license and had been arrested twice in the past six months for DUI. He also had multiple previous revocations over the past years. Police sought a felony charge and the Lake County State's Attorney's Office approved it.

Josue DeOca-Quintana, 27, of the 1600 block of 14th Street in Waukegan, was arrested at 4:39 a.m. on Sept. 22 following an investigation into a traffic crash in the area of Route 41 and Route 61. Officers found a tan Chevy SUV with significant damage to its front end and a missing tire on its driver's side. The driver, DeOca-Quintana, was found sitting in the vehicle, wearing no shirt and showing signs of impairment. He reportedly remembered drinking beer but could not explain how SUV had gotten damaged or the crash occurred. He failed field sobriety tests and was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, obstruction, leaving the scene of an accident and driving with an expired license.

A 23-year-old Waukegan woman was arrested at 9:33 a.m. on Sept. 23 and charged with driving without a valid license or insurance following a traffic stop on a red Chevy for speeding in the 900 block of Green Bay Road.

Robert S. Reda, 56, of the 100 block of North Washington Circle in Lake Forest, was arrested around 7 p.m. on Sept. 30 in his block of residence and charged with domestic battery. Police were told Reda pinned a person down and struck them in the chest. He reportedly refused to cooperative with officers and prosecutors approved a single count of domestic battery.

A 23-year-old Zion woman was arrested at 6:35 p.m. on Oct. 1 following a traffic stop in the 900 block of Telegraph Road and charged with driving with a suspended license. Officers pulled her over in a silver Nissan after she sped passed and learned her license was not valid.

A 50-year-old Waukegan man was arrested at 10:38 a.m. on Oct. 2 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Route 41 and Old Elm Road. Police who pulled him over in a green Subaru after noticing its plates were expired in May 2017 also learned he did not have valid insurance and issued him citations for both offenses.
