Connor Evans And Pressure Busspipe Skillfully Blend Hip-Hop And Reggae On ‘Neva’

Connor Evans flashed a heavy reggae influence on his comeback single “Ganja” before moving away from the sound for the next two singles from his forthcoming release, The Vibe. His latest single “Neva” finds the rapper-singer shifting back to a hip-hop and reggae hybrid, propelled by a feature from reggae artist Pressure Busspipe.

“When I first moved to the Virgin Islands I wanted to know what everyone was listening to,” Evans said via email. “I heard Pressure’s name in every convo I had. I checked his stuff out and thought it was incredible. A buddy of mine happened to be friends with him and we first met during Carnival on a boat trip.”

“Neva” is produced by Mike Ewing and was inspired by an Atlanta trip where Evans met Jermaine Dupri, drove around in a Porsche Panamera, and ended up at IHOP at 6 in the morning. The track was recorded at the Georgia capital’s legendary Patchwerk Recording Studios.

Listen to “Neva” below and look out for The Vibe soon.
