Here’s what’s going on for summer solstice in Anchorage and beyond

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported the Anchorage Museum is hosting a solstice event on Friday, June 21. The museum is not hosting a solstice event this year.

It’s that time, everyone: the longest day of the year, Friday, when the sun will rise at about 4:20 a.m. and set close to midnight. Get out of the house and celebrate with festivities in Anchorage, Fairbanks and the Kenai Peninsula.

Solstice Dance — Get out and jive with friends, family and members in your community. No experience is necessary, only energy for dancing and good vibes. Hosted by The Hive AK. Free. 5 p.m. Friday, Taku Lake

Solstice Cemetery Tour — Learn about the lives of 10 notable Alaskans buried in the Memorial Park during this guided tour. This event will occur rain or shine. Free. 6-8 p.m. Friday, Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery, 535 E Ninth Ave.

Solstice Party — Rock out to hits from the ’80s, ’90s and 2000s with Locomotion Alaska. Food will be available for purchase. Free admission. 8-11:55 p.m. Friday, 907 Alehouse & Grill, 8001 Old Seward Highway

Midnight Sun Jump-a-thon — Join the Nordic Skiing Association and watch some summer ski jumping. There will be a BBQ and camp-out, so bring your gear and prepare to spend the night. Donations are accepted. 6 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday, Karl Eid Ski Jumps, 7015 Abbott Road

Day in Night — Entertain your soul with live music and good company. Featured artists are Eternal Cowboys, Harp Daddy and DJ Livingston and DJ Gre. Only 21 and over. $20. 4 p.m.-2 a.m. Friday, Bernie’s Bungalow Lounge, 626 D St.

Solstice Yoga — Bring your mat and your friends to this yoga class in the town square from Anchorage Yoga and the Anchorage Downtown Partnership. Free. 5-6:30 p.m. Friday, Town Square Park, 551 Sixth Ave.

Solstice at Flattop — Join others in an annual tradition of hiking Flattop to celebrate summer solstice. It may be an unorganized event, but you can find groups like the Mountaineering Club of Alaska participating in the fun Saturday. The tradition varies from the evening of June 20 to June 22, so pick whichever day suits your fancy.

Solstice Brewfest 2019 — Hang out in a beer garden and listen to live music from Matt Lewis and the Medicine, Denali Cooks and more. Stay late for a dance party and music from a live DJ. $20-32. Friday and Saturday, Healy, Mile 248.5 Parks Highway.

Downtown Summer Solstice Festival — Enjoy live music, a chalk art gallery, a petting zoo, bouncy houses and the Hero Games. There will also be food trucks, vendors and beer gardens (plus, a “Sober Garden” at Fourth Avenue and H Street, where bartenders from South, Tequila 61, Williwaw and SubZero will serve mocktails while people in the garden try their hand at classic backyard games). Humpy’s 25th Anniversary and Summer Solstice Party — Party all day long with live music from Karl Merl, Ukulele Russ and the Eternal Cowboys. Free admission. 3-10:30 p.m. Saturday, Humpy’s Great Alaskan Ale House, 610 W Sixth Ave.

Midnight Sun Charity Golf Classic — This golf tournament benefits Hospice of Anchorage and continues late into the evening. After your round, attend an awards banquet that provides breakfast. $150-$520. 6 p.m.-1 a.m. Saturday, Settlers Bay Golf Course, 7307 S Frontier Drive

SoMiTo Solstice Saunter — Meet some of your Midtown craft beverage-makers and tour to three different distilleries in Anchorage. As you bounce between Cynosure, Double Shovel and Anchorage Distillery, you can stop by the Just Taste It food truck for a bite to eat. Free. 2-8 p.m. Saturday, South of Midtown , 144 E Potter Drive

Summer Solstice Dance Party — Listen to hits that will get your body moving on the dance floor. It might get a little warm, so dress comfortably. Only 21 and over. Free admission. 9:30 p.m.-2:30 a.m. Saturday, Williwaw Social, 609 F St.

Outside Anchorage

37th Annual Midnight Sun Run — Run under the sun in this race and enjoy live music and beer afterward. There will also be food vendors, massages and other amenities. $30-$45. 10 p.m.-2 a.m. Saturday, Midnight Sun Run, 805 Airport Way, Fairbanks.

Midnight Sun Festival — Join others in this annual celebration featuring 45 live performances from dance groups, traveling artists, musicians and more. There will also be about 200 booths to look at, so be prepared to stroll around for awhile. Free admission. Noon-11:59 p.m. Sunday, Downtown Fairbanks.

Solstice with Blackwater Railroad — Listen to a live performance by Blackwater Railroad. $25. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Friday, The Boatel. 3368 Riverside Drive, Fairbanks

20th Annual Seldovia Summer Solstice Music Festival — This multiple day festival features musical and artistic events like song circles and en plein air art. $10-$50. 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.Saturday, 1:30-6 p.m. Sunday.
