SHARPTOWN, Md.- Maryland State Police have released the name of a teenage girl who was killed in a Monday night crash in Sharptown.
Troopers identified the girl as 17-year-old Natalie Insley, of Tyaskin, Md.
Police said the crash happened just after 10 p.m. Monday on Sharptown Road, not far from the Nanticoke River. Police said a 2005 Honda Accord was traveling south when the driver lost control of the vehicle. Police said the car continued off the roadway, striking a tree at a high rate of speed.
Troopers said Natalie Insley was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, where she died from her injuries. She was a front-seat passenger in the car. She was a student at James M. Bennett High School in Salisbury, friends and family in Tyaskin told WBOC.
Police said the driver, a 17-year-old boy from Hebron, Md., as well as two backseat passengers, a 14-year-old boy also from Hebron, and a 16-year-old boy from Salisbury, were also taken to PRMC and were treated for their injuries. Troopers have not yet released the name of the driver and other passengers.
