March 30, 1927—June 20, 2018
Marilyn Koehn was born on March 30, 1927, at Galva, KS, the 3rd child of Eli and Susie Eidse Koehn. She peacefully fell asleep on Wednesday evening, June 20, 2018, at Evergreen Assisted Living in Buhl, ID, at 91 years of age.
Marilyn grew up in McPherson, Ulysses, and Greensburg, KS; attending schools in Ulysses and Greensburg. She was baptized November 29, 1942, at Greensburg, KS. She was steadfast in her faith and love for God. While growing up, she helped with chores before going to school. When a little older, she cleaned for others, working outside the home.
She was married to Leonard Koehn on July 20, 1952, at Greensburg, KS, by Minister Lincoln Jantz. Next month would have been their 66th anniversary. They made their home in the Winton and Atwater, California area. Mom was a seamstress; sewing for others. Their home was blessed with 4 sons and 2 daughters. We remember her always raising a garden and chickens. She was of a quiet nature, hard-working, taking care of her family and others. In December 1970, they moved their family to Buhl, ID, to raise their children in a rural farm setting.
Surviving are her husband Leonard Koehn of Buhl, and 6 children: Gerald, Wilmont and Mildred, Martin and Candace, Esther and James Giesbrecht, Luanna, all of Buhl, ID, and Sid and Julie of Twin Falls, ID. She had 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Five siblings survive: Leon and Martha Koehn, Moundridge, KS, Ila and Jake Koehn, Victoria, TX, Dewey and Minnie Koehn, Greensburg, KS, Velda Peaster, Atwater, CA, Frieda and Richard Figg, Greensburg, KS. Preceding her in death were her parents and 4 siblings, Doris, Juanita, Virgil, and Willard.
The family would like to thank Adele, Dee, and the staff at Evergreen Assisted Living, Hospice Visions, and Steven Thomas for their loving care.
There will be a viewing starting at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Buhl Mennonite Church, on Deep Creek Rd. In Buhl, ID. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018, at the Buhl Mennonite Church. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Farmer Funeral Chapel of Buhl, Idaho.
