Nippon Paper's US business seen moving into black in fiscal 2017

Acquisition, sale of money-losing operations likely to boost earnings

TOKYO -- Nippon Paper Industries' U.S. business will likely swing to black ink in the year ending in March 2018, thanks in large part to last September's acquisition of the liquid packaging board business of major American forestry company Weyerhaeuser.

The disposal of money-losing operations is also expected to improve the U.S. business' operating results by roughly 5 billion yen ($43.6 million).
