American Girl is coming to the Hershey area.
American Girl is expected to open a 2,200-square-foot store at Tanger Outlets Hershey in Derry Township in August.
The store will carry a rotating assortment of excess and discontinued dolls, accessories, and clothing from various American Girl brands. Some of the company's best-selling lines include Truly Me, Girl of the Year, Bitty Baby, and WellieWishers.
American Girl will occupy suite 142 and will take over the space previously occupied by Easy Spirit. Tanger Outlets Hershey is located at 46 Outlet Square and is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday - Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
When the store opens, it will be the only outlet store in the United States for American Girl, according to Chuck Simmons, the general manager of Tanger Outlets Hershey. And it will be the first outlet store for the company in the entire country outside of its home state of Wisconsin where it previously had an outlet store near its headquarters that has since closed, according to Simmons.
American Girl was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Middleton, Wisconsin. The wholly-owned subsidiary of Mattel Inc., opened its first store in Chicago in 1998 and has 20 stores, all of which are in major cities, according to its website.
American Girl won't be the only new store at the outlets. A Vera Bradley store opened at the outlets last month and a Michael Kors store opened on Thursday.
