CLEVELAND, Ohio.  Kent State University will celebrate its 100th Homecoming Parade on Oct. 6.

For this special occasion, they have tapped WJW Fox 8 anchor, and alum, Wayne Dawson to be the Homecoming Parade's Grand Marshal.

Dawson, a 1979 graduate of the school, is quick to tell those who will listen about his love of Kent State, that includes going to sporting events, weekend dances and working at the Eastway Center on campus making pizzas.

"I'm totally humbled," says Dawson. "Not in my wildest dreams I would have thought I'd be selected for the 100th anniversary. This is truly incredible, and I'm honored to represent my alma mater. The success I've had at Fox 8, can be traced back to what I learned at TV 2 as a student."

The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., followed by the Kent State University Alumni Association's "Welcome Home Party" at 11 a.m. at the Center for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement, 350 S. Lincoln St. The Kent State Golden Flashes will then host the Ohio University Bobcats at 3:30 p.m. at Dix Stadium. For more information about the festivities, visit www.kent.edu/homecoming.
