Washington man convicted in assault on bicyclist on Olympic Discovery Trail

A Sequim man accused of attacking a bicyclist on a trail in Clallam County was convicted Tuesday of assault.

The Peninsula Daily News reports 23-year-old Spencer J. Silva will be sentenced Feb. 19 in Port Angeles.

In the attack last July, a man wearing a clown mask knocked a 22-year-old woman off her bicycle on the Olympic Discovery Trail in Carlsborg. She kicked and screamed until neighbors arrived to scare him away.

Investigators found a knife at the scene with DNA that matched Silva.
