The City of Sunrise is hosting a full day of free celebrations on Tuesday, July 4. The festivities begin at 9:00 a.m., when the “Salute to Sports” Parade winds its way west along Sunset Strip from NW 12th Street to City Park (6700 Sunset Strip, Sunrise 33313). See colorful floats, costumed characters, marching musicians, and special guests.

After the parade ends, the excitement continues at Family Fun Day in City Park. Enjoy free refreshments and a children’s fun zone until noon.

The BB&T Center (One Panther Parkway, Sunrise 33323) opens its gates at 5:00 p.m. for an outdoor bash complete with live music, fireworks, a children’s fun zone, and food and beverage vendors. Parking and admission are free!

The music starts at 6:00 p.m. with Caribbean rhythms from the Baha Men, best known for their worldwide hit, Who Let the Dogs Out. At 7:30 p.m., it’s time for headliners The Romantics, whose ’80s chart toppers included Talking in Your Sleep and What I Like About You. At 9:00 p.m., enjoy a fantastic fireworks display.

For attendees’ safety, the following items cannot be brought into the event area at the BB&T Center: backpacks, bags larger than 12″ x 12″, coolers, glass bottles, alcohol, weapons,fireworks, pets, and bicycles. (Bring a lock to secure your bike in the lot.) All bags will be searched.

The City of Sunrise Concert and Fireworks is presented in collaboration with Wheelabrator Technologies, the BB&T Center, the Florida Panthers, Ed Morse Sawgrass Automall,Metropica, Memorial Healthcare System, Bahama Breeze, the Sun-Sentinel Media Group, TheBeach 102.7 FM, and The Ticket 790 AM.
