Raheem Sterling has revealed he has turned to meditation during his downtime in the England camp as he seeks to remain “in a good place”.

The England attacker said he had turned to the practice before bedtime at St George’s Park in an attempt to clear his mind and become relaxed before going to sleep.

Sterling scored the winning goal against Croatia last Sunday, his first strike at a major tournament, and told the Official England Podcast about his new routine when asked how he was spending free time.

“Meditating,” he said. “I’m doing a little bit of meds. I try and do it before I go to sleep — get relaxed before I go to sleep. Just taking time out, being thankful and grateful
