Napa County High School Students Bring Poetry Alive Through Poetry Out Loud

On February 8, 2016, ten high school students from five Napa County high schools will participate in the Poetry Out Loud Napa County finals

Arts Council Napa Valley announces the Napa County finals for Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest. The competition, presented in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, is part of a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization, performance, and competition.

On February 8, 2016, ten high school students from five Napa County high schools will participate in the Poetry Out Loud Napa County finals at Lucky Penny Community Arts Center. The winner will receive a $200 scholarship and the runner-up will receive $100 scholarship. The student that takes first place in the Napa County competition will go on to the California State Finals and will have a chance to compete in the National Finals in Washington DC in May.

Schools that are participating include American Canyon High School, New Tech High School, St. Helena High School, Napa High School, and Justin Siena High School.

Attendance to Poetry Out Loud Napa County Competition is free and open to the public. Food generously provided by Vallergas Market.
