James Franco's 'Zeroville' Lands Will Ferrell, Seth Rogen & Tons More

In case you hadn't heard, James Franco is directing and starring in an adaptation of Zeroville, the 2007 novel of the same name by Steve Erickson. The story follows a naive, alienated young man who moves to Hollywood in the 1960s, driven by his love and obsession for the movies, and meeting various filmmaking types like John Milius and Martin Scorsese. But he ends up getting caught up in the world of sex, drugs and rock and roll. It's a must-read for any cinephile, and the film is already in production right now. So far we hadn't heard any cast members beyond Franco taking the lead role (he shaved his head for it), but that changes today with a report from ScreenDaily revealing that some of Franco's best buddies are on board too.
Seth Rogen, Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson and brother Dave Franco are all starring in the film, which isn't surprising at all. But some interesting talents also involved include Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook), Megan Fox (This is 40), Joey King (Wish I Was Here) and Horatio Sanz ("Saturday Night Live"). In fact, Franco has posted a couple photos from set with Fox and Ferrell:
We don't know who all the actors are playing, but Fox has the role of some sort of femme fatale named Soledad and Rogen is playing Viking Man, the eccentric, cigar-chomping, surf-hippie who guides Franco's character. Meanwhile, Weaver plays a film editor who also acts as a mentor and friend to Franco and McBride will be some sort of sinister financier. In the photo above, Ferrell almost looks like a Robert Evans kind of filmmaker, but it's not clear who specifically he might be playing. If anything, we're betting that there will be a ton of throwaway cameos in the film, but since it's set back during the 60s, the cast won't be playing themselves like many of them did in This is The End. Stay tuned.

Bad enough Megan Fox cannot act, but now her face looks like shit.

Sounds like this would make a good double feature with Inherent Vice (as the lesser warm up to the latter), as the plot sounds totally Pynchon-esque. Incidentally, Steve Erickson and Thomas Pynchon are reportedly mutual admirers.
