Utah teacher arrested for sexual battery of student

HURRICANE, Utah — (KUTV) A Utah teacher has been arrested, accused of having a series of sexual offenses with a minor student.

Hurricane City Police investigated and arrested Aaron Karl Esplin, 40, of Hurricane. Police said that during the investigation, they learned a 17-year-old student shared what police called "inappropriate" images of herself with her the teacher.

During an interview of Esplin, police say he also admitted to "inappropriate touching." He also admitted to soliciting the images from the girl.

Police said they spoke with all parties involved. Esplin is charged with sexual battery, exploiting a minor, and supplying pornography and harmful materials to a minor.

School officials notified police that they had received information about the teacher and student relationship.
