Girls Reportedly Bleeding Through Pants Due To Charter School Bathroom Policy

A network of Chicago charter schools has policies so strict that some menstruating girls are bleeding through their pants for lack of permitted bathroom breaks, an NPR affiliate reported on Monday.

In early April, NPR Illinois outlined the “dehumanizing” disciplinary practices at the Noble Network of Charter Schools. Teachers and students subsequently reported other practices, including strictly limited bathroom visits.

“We have [bathroom] escorts, and they rarely come so we end up walking out [of class] and that gets us in trouble,” an anonymous student texted to an NPR reporter. “But who wants to walk around knowing there’s blood on them? It can still stain the seats. They just need to be more understanding.”

Feminine hygiene products can leak if they aren’t changed every few hours. Tampons that aren’t changed regularly can cause toxic shock syndrome, a life-threatening type of bacterial infection.

they have to take a bathroom pass they get silent lunch. I also remember a kid peeling his pants in my 7th grade class because the teacher refused to let him go to the bathroom... not everything is about race!

I peed all over the floor in 1st grade because my teacher would not let me go to the bathroom (after asking about 5 times). Then she proceeded to humiliate me (as if I wasn't already humiliated) in front of the class.

All the school administrators are most likely going to spend serious time in prison. The school no longer exists, the students and parents got screwed big time.

But you know the scary thing? They won't learn a damn thing. The parents and teachers will keep voting for these reckless policies because they only watch Fox News and vote based on what their church tells them. So the chances of this happening again are very high.

I know someone with a chronic bladder condition has to be near a bathroom all the time. I knew a girl in high school whose life was saved by a colostomy. People occasional get UTIs or reactions to medicines.

Our society has always been inhumane, now the inhumanity is spreading into smallest nooks and crannies.

Women in prison are rationed hygiene products and run out. You can’t really “be careful with them” or conserve them... the body has a mind of its own.

In orientation, they were adamant that if a student asks for a restroom pass, you give it to him/ her, no question. It isn't up to us to determine if there's a legit need.
