Lyme-Old Lyme HS 2018-19 Math Teams Celebrate Successful Season

The teams compete in the Greater Middlesex County Math League.

OLD LYME, CT — From Lyme-Old Lyme Public Schools (Region 18): On March 18, Lyme-Old Lyme High School Math Team, along with family members, attended the official awards banquet for the Greater Middlesex County Math League 2018-2019 season. It was once again a very successful year for our mathletes.

  • On the varsity level, our varsity team took first place in Small Division Schools for the 6th consecutive year! Josh Liefeld was the team highest scorer, while Ryan McTigue was the Greater Middlesex County Math League Third Highest Scoring Junior after attending only five out of the seven competitions.
  • On the junior varsity level, our junior varsity team took first place in Small Division Schools and earned the highest raw score in the entire league. Connie Pan was the Greater Middlesex County Math League Highest Scoring Sophomore, while Nikolai Stephens-Zumbaum was the Highest Scoring Freshman.
  • The LOLHS Math Team has qualified and was invited to join the state competition sponsored by The Connecticut State Association of Mathematics Leagues, which will take place this year on April 4 in Haddam-Killingworth High School.

Congratulations to both teams, to the top individual scorers, and to all team members as the overall success of our Math Team depends on each and every one of you. Here are the members of our Math Dream Team:

Huge thank you goes out to Glenn Elliott who started and led the Math Team program in LOLHS to
many successful seasons for the last 16 years and will be retiring at the end of the year.
