Nemith Volvo of Latham is “going out of business”

Nemith Volvo on Route 9 in Latham is closing – or maybe not.

The car dealer, which traces its founding back to 1937 in Schenectady, is not taking service appointments anymore and is “going out of business,” according to staff.

The dealer appears to still be selling cars, however, and some cars were in the service bays on Wednesday.

Mark Nemith, the owner, did not return several phone calls for comment.

Nemith recently sold its Nissan dealership. That business is now being run by Billy Jr., Billy Fuccillo’s son.

A few years back, Nemith also got rid of its Lincoln and Mercury franchises.

Mark Nemith, who has a background in the financial services sector as well, also runs the family’s real estate business.

Next door to Nemith Volvo, in what appears to be an old Nemith Nissan building, there is a sign that says Big Al’s Auto Outlet.

A business by that name with a Latham mailing address was registered with the New York Secretary of State on June 3. It’s unclear if there is any connection. Laywers at the East Greenbush law firm that registered the business with the state on behalf of their client were not available.
