Robin S. Lattimore, of Rutherforton, will present a program on his new book, “Southern Splendor —Saving Architectural Treasures of the Old South.”

He and his co-authors, Marc Matrana and Micheal Kitchens, have explored more than 50 houses built before the Civil War that have been authentically restored and preserved. He will discuss the challenges facing specific plantation homes and their preservation.

“Southern Splendor” describes the leading role the South has played, since the 19th century, in the historical preservation movement in the country.

Lattimore has authored more than 25 books, and has been bestowed with North Carolina’s Order of the Longleaf Pine.
