A Wichita man has been charged with attempted capital murder in the sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl.

Corbin Breitenbach was also charged with aggravated criminal sodomy and aggravated burglary.

According to police, Breitenbach strangled the young girl until she passed out, then took her to an outside balcony, where he sexually assaulted her. The incident happened on June 11 at an apartment complex in W. Wichita.

After releasing a vague description of the attacker, police arrested Breitenbach at a car wash where he worked.

Breitenbach was in court for his first appearance on June 21. He was formally charged with attempted capital murder in the case. His bond was set at $1-million.

Factfinder 12 looked into Breitenbach's background and found that he was just released from prison in April. He was convicted in 2013 of aggravated sexual battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in 2013. He was sentenced to register as a sex offender.

Police have not released the information that led up to Breitenbach's arrest.

He is due back in court July 5 and is being held on a $1 million bond.
