BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- The Futurebirds were second on stage at the 2012 Shaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil in downtown Birmingham Saturday.

Mary Colurso and Jeremy Burgess are covering the event for The Birmingham News. Here are some of their tweets from the concert:

The Futurebirds hit the stage at the

folks may remember them from

last year. --

Futurebirds on at

, and I'm happy to see a pedal-steel player. Crowd here slightly larger than this time yesterday. --

Three lead vocalists in full effect for The Futurebirds. They're like an alt-country version of KISS (with no make-up).

--

Make that four lead singers. The Futurebirds drummer just stepped out from behind the kit to play guitar and sing a number.

--

Futurebirds is egalitarian band. Five out of six members have taken lead vocals. Pedal-steel player is lone holdout. So far.

--

The Futurebirds have six members. Through five songs, they've had five different guys take lead vocals. Can they do all six?

--

Liking Futurebirds, trying to resist shallow remark about bass player's ultra-skinny legs. Shorts are not a good look. Sorry!

--

If I were doing full review of Futurebirds, I'd give 'em 3 out of 5 stars. Decent rock band with a little country tinge.

Great set from The Futurebirds, despite not letting the sixth guy sing.
