Husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend; Chuck Newton died suddenly, although not unexpectedly, on March 31. In his 87 years he traveled extensively, was very creative, read avidly, adored his family, dogs, golf, fishing, music, history and was known for his humor. He graduated from Northwestern University in 1941 and entered the Navy, where he commanded an LST ship during WWII.

He moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1949 and married Lupe Doud Murphy in February of 1950. They started a family and he settled into a position with the United States Brewers Association, from which he retired. His wife and son, Hunter, preceded him in death. He is survived by children Karen Newton (husband Richard Haggstrom), Kristina Hof (son Travis), Eric Newton (wife Ruth and children Jonathan and Krista) and adopted son Otohiko Okugawa and family. Jorge Nevarez Barrera, 58, of Chandler, passed away Apr. 7, 2006. Visitation: 1-4 pm Apr. 9, at Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Dr.

in Chandler with Rosary at 2 pm. Final services will be in Hermosillo, Mex. Theodore Jordan Becker, 71, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away March 12th following a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Williamsport, PA and graduated from the University of Maryland. Ted was a CPA who, after a stint with Price Waterhouse, joined the Federal Government.

His career included the General Accounting Office, Departments of Labor, Justice, and Agriculture and U.S. Senate. He was the Controller of the U.S. Commodity Credit Corporation and retired as Assistant Director of the International Division of the General Accounting Office. He is survived by his wife Diane Wright, sister Jane Rook (Joseph) of Salt Lake City, UT, daughters Susan Lese of Manassas, VA and Catherine Whitmore (Michael) of Front Royal, VA and grandchildren Rachel Lese and Johnathan Whitmore.

Jane Miskimen Cotton of Cottonwood died in her sleep Monday following a short battle with lung cancer. Jane was born in Zelienople, PA January 5, 1926 to James and Martha Miriam (Yost) Miskimen. She was preceded in death by an infant son, her husband, George W.

"Bill" Colton, 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Jane and Bill were married on April 9th, 1952 in New Philadelphia, OH. They lived in Rockville, MD, Flagstaff, Little Rock, AR and finally moved to Cottonwood in 1999. Jane is survived by eight siblings; her 11 children: Jim (Jan), Cottage Grove, OR, Ted (Becky) Flagstaff, Doug, Cottonwood, Jenny Miller (Kurt), El Paso, TX; Kathy (Rusty) Branscum, Batesville, AR; Matt, Flagstaff; Charley (Carla), Imperial, NE, Tom (Debby), Rialto, CA; Karla (Jon), Rollins, Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Dwight (Heather) Parker, CO, and Holly (Mike) Seeders, Glendale, 28 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother and wife, who touched the lives of all those she met.

She will be greatly missed. A joint memorial service for Jane and Bill will be held April 15 at West-cott Funeral Home in Cottonwood at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Northern Arizona Hospice. Sarah Sally Kantrowitz Hirsch passed away very peacefully at home at 11 AM in Phoenix, AZ on Friday, February 3, 2006 with her son Bill and adopted son" Fred Bonds by her side.

She was laid to rest as per her wishes in Beth El Cemetery Phoenix, AZ with graveside services by Sinai Mortuary on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006. Sarah was born in New York City on Oct. 22, 1914 to Harry Lillian Kantrowitz, the first girl of nine children. She grew up nicknamed as Sally" went to Bayonne High School, NJ.

She married Milton Hirsch 1910-1225-1981-95) on Aug. 22, 1940 and had three sons, Henry Northridge, CA), William, David Eric 1946-1025 -1994-620). She is survived by sisters Hilda Lerner Jersey City, NJ), and Evelyn Manhella Westfield, NJ). Preceding her were brothers, Phillip, Arthur, Benjamin, Isadore, Frederick, and sister Elsie. Milton returned from the Army in 1945 and both purchased a new home in Jersey City, NJ in 1946 where they raised their family.

Sally was always home for her children during grammar school. She worked for Depository Trust Clearing Corp. in NYC from 1968 80, then retired. Sally stayed in the same house until 1993 when she moved to Scottsdale, AZ. then in Dec.

1996 moved in with son Eddie Edward Felix May 3, 1990 -April 2, 2006 A Eddie was very special and his presence brought warmth, comfort and joy to all he knew. Eddie was very special to so many and will forever be remembered. Although he is not here for us to see and touch he will be here for us in spirit and forever in our hearts. Eddie was 15 yrs old and was a Son, Brother, Grandson, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin Friend. Viewing at St.

Arrangements entrusted to Melcher's Chapel of the Roses, Mesa. William E. "Bill" Maurer, formerly of Ottumwa, Iowa, died April 5, 2006 at the Friends Paradise Group Home in Glendale. Bill was born August 12, 1917, to Wyn and Edna Maurer. Bill lived in Ottumwa until 1978, when he and his wife, the former Marjorie Mosher Peppers, moved to Phoenix, Arizona.

Bill was a member of Ottumwa High School Class of 1935 and attended Iowa State University. While in High School, he was named the Iowa State Junior Golf Champion. Bill remained an avid golfer throughout his life, playing into his early 80's with his children and grandchildren. Bill was a veteran of World War II and belonged to O.B. Nelson Post 3 American Legion, Walter B.

Schafer Post 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a lifetime member of B.P.O.EIks Lodge 347. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He had worked for 30 years as salesman and automobile sales manager for Ackley Ford and Vaughn Chevrolet before retiring in 1977. He was named Vaughn's "Man-of-the-Year" in 1965. Bill is survived by his wife, Marjorie; children, Rita Kae Restrepo, Alameda, California and Alaire Hayes, Corona, California; step sons, Larry Peppers, Lexington, Virginia, Mark Peppers, Goleta, California; five grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren.

They will all miss Bill's sense of humor, warm laugh, and his love of family, golf, card games and vanilla ice cream. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Evercare Hospices, 3141 N. Sarah was fascinated bv air planes and received her pilot's license at age 17. On June 9, 1945, Sarah married her husband of 52 years, Edward Joseph Rosser, deceased, and gave birth to their only child, Robert Roy Rosser, deceased.

Being married to an Air Force Colonel and Top Gun Instructor, took Sarah to exotic places. Sarah has lived in Japan and the Philippines, as well as, many states throughout the US. She was a state champion tennis player and was a preferred partner for General Westmoreland during the Vietnam War. She also later became an award winning golfer in the Phoenix area. In the late 70's Sarah received her Real Estate License and was a top salesperson for Realty Executives for many years.

Sarah is survived by her nephew Tim Wilkins, niece Bonnie Crail, grandchildren Aleks and Barrett Rosser, daughter-in-law Karla Rosser, Jana Wilkins and many others who will greatly miss her. passed away in his home Saturday April 1, at the age of 48. His memory lives on through his daughters Kelly, Elizabeth, and Olivia, his wife Michelle, sisters Joanne Lapinski, and Barb Pignatari and brother Joe Wichert. He loved being the PokerGod, driving his Hummer, being right and mostly being a proud father. He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical in Lin was the first physi- cian to volunteer owing ine rorean War and served three tours of duty with the U.S. Navy. He moved to Phoenix in 1961 where he practiced psychotherapy and psychoanalysis for 45 years. John will be remembered for his good work and by the many whose lives he changed for the better. He is survived by his wife, Anne Stewart Zell, sister Marion Marion, children, Kurt Zell Brant Zell Lisa Tear, stepsons, Bob Cowan, John David Cowan, Dan Cowan and 12 grandchildren.

Celebration of his life will be held Sunday, April 9, 2006, at noon at 5648 N. 40th Paradise Valley. The family requests donations be made to Mayo Clinic Arizona Radiation Oncology research. YOUNG-NEILL, Joan ZELL, John R. John "Jack" A. Beltz of Jill Street died Wednesday April 5, 2006 in his home. Jack was born October 11, 1922 in Wausau, Wl to Arthur and Helen (Vladik) Beltz. He was a graduate of Wausau Senior High School.

Jack served in the US Navy in the Pacific during WW II as an Aviation Machinist Mate 2nd class. He married Marian Fitzgerald on January 10, 1948. Jack worked for many years for NCR, which brought him to Du-luth in 1973 where he retired as Office Manager. After he retired, Jack and Marian moved to the Phoenix area. While there he volunteered for 15 years at Arrowhead Hospital.

They returned to Duluth in August 2005 and were members of St. Michael's Church. He also was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Bob, who was killed in WW II and Lawrence; sisters, Phyllis, Gen, Ethel and Virginia and his grandson, Patrick Titus. Jack is survived by his wife, Marian; children, Mary (Dennis) Dyke of Sun City, AZ, Robert Beltz of Phoenix and Barb (Kevin) Titus of Duluth.

Grandchildren, Jennifer and Scott (Heather) Dyke, Michael and Brittany Beltz and Sarah and Mary Titus; sisters, Joan Haberman of Omaha, NE and Connie Brown of Florence, Oregon. A special thank you Kathy Fetsch, Gayle Koop and St. Mary's Hospice. Visitation will begin at 10am with Mass of Christian Burial at 11am Friday at St. Michael's Church with military honors accorded by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard to follow.

She was well and truly loved by those who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 9th from 5 to 8 pm, Rosary at 7 pm and on Monday, one hour prior to the funeral service at 9:30 am at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7th St.

Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of AZ. Arrangements by Hansen Mortuary. Ocie L. Patterson of Phoenix passed away on April 4, 2006. She is survived by her son David Patterson and sister Gladys Russell.

Robert Porter, age 48, passed away Monday, April 3, 2006. Robert was a longtime resident of Mesa. He worked at Pimalco in Chandler, AZ. Survivors include his wife Colleen, her son Nicholas of Mesa, brother Don, nephew Jerry and his wife Teresa, and his mother Mabel. Main Mesa, AZ. Melcher Mortuary handled arrangements 480-832-3500. Emile Eugene Racine II, 84, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2006. A kind, generous and re- spected man, he lived a iKJI full life. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Emile was a model MI-SS'M' son to Emile Sr.

and Anna, served his country as a B-17 pilot in World War II and his beloved City of New York as a Police Officer for 35 years, retiring in 1975 having attained the ranked of Deputy Inspector. He married the one and only love of his life, Margaret Reilly, in 1944. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage until her passing in March, 1998. He leaves Behind a large legacy, consisting of six sons, Eugene, Robert, Kenneth, William, Donald and Thomas; four daughters-in-law, Gini, Peggy, Barbara and Kim; eight grandchildren from 38 years to 6 months old; three (and a half) great-grandchildren and an uncountable number of friends. He was a true leader in all aspects of his life, a playful soul with a dry wit and a passion for cornball humor -still the only man who ever laughed at the "Frayed Knot" joke.

He was fiercely proud of his six boys and their families and was always the center of any Racine family gathering. He was an athletic man, remaining active until very late in life. He was an outdoorsman, adventurer and provider. To steal a line from an old song, "Thru 85 years of perpetual motion, if he liked you, he'd smile and he'd say, 'Sonny, some of it's tragic but most of it's magic, and I had a good life all the Fare thee well, Dad find Mom and God bless you both. You will be missed.
