Columbus will have a new “ultimate sports bar” in October on Highway 45.
Ledrico Isaac has announced he’s opening Yo’Bar at 1920 Suite 2 Hwy 45 N. He said the plan was nearly five years in the making, and he is excited that it’s finally coming to fruition.
The bar will offer “typical bar food” such as burgers, hot wings and sandwiches. If you’re looking for a unique activity in town, Yo’Bar will have a mechanical bull to test your skills. Isaac will hire up to 20 employees and host open-mic night and karaoke. He also looks forward to hosting football games four nights of the week for avid sports fans.
Isaac has been remodeling his dream bar from the ground up since early July. The project has created a large bar top and stage area while an existing smaller room has been expanded into a kitchen. Yo’Bar will be open weekdays from 5 p.m.-1 a.m. and weekends from “lunch” to 1 a.m.
Adding more to the city’s night life, the historic Columbus bar, The Elbow Room, reopened last week. Owner Barbara Swindol said the building is still on the market — as it has been since she shuttered the business in July — but she felt she needed to re-open until the right buyer comes along. The business is listed as a “turn-key” bar at $189,950. The bar’s famous pizza recipe is included in the price, Swindol said.
Rex’s Direct Foods, 606 Alabama St., has a new owner.
Sylvia Graham, owner of Skeet’s Hotdogs, took over for Rex Prescott. Graham had been a long-term customer of Rex’s Direct Foods, which led to her new business venture when Prescott was ready to retire. Graham doesn’t plan to change much, but she hopes to expand the shop’s inventory.
In Starkville, Tuesday Morning has moved to its new location at 402 Mississippi Hwy 12 in the Village Mall Shopping Center next to Bargain Hunt.
Over in Clay County, a new employer is looking to hire. This Saturday, the Peco Foods Job Fair will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Fair will take place at East Mississippi Community College CMTE Building on S. Frontage Road in Mayhew. Interested applicants should register with www.mdes.ms.gov.
The West Point Peco location is hiring maintenance technicians, management-supervisors, management trainees, experienced forklift operators and refrigerator technicians.
